The 2nd idea of a phone book generally can not work for travelers since most likely they do not have available a phone book for your location they are at. Naturally, this is not always the case. If the person is just driving through and have a hotel room, or if the resort room does not provide a phonebook, a person can stop at a service station, or any other place that has a pay phone and appearance through the phone book there. This will likely work sometimes, but sometimes it is a lot of extra trouble, besides that, telephone books are not going to tell an individual how to get there, only the address. For those who are in an unfamiliar town and has trouble finding addresses, this info may not be too helpful.
Another way some people use when looking for a nearby restaurant to eat at is to drive until they visit a familiar name. There are several restaurant chains that may be found throughout the country, however, if no familiar restaurant is available, how does a person know what type to stop at?
Word of mouth is great. Ask local people what they would suggest. Another way is to prepare ahead of time and by using travel maps, find out where certain restaurants are placed in relation to where you will be traveling. There are many maps available that will show where different restaurants will be in a particular city or town. These can be obtained essentially hotels in the area, through the travel and tourism office and even on the internet. Most internet sites that supply maps also will show where a few of the more popular restaurants are located, which will help a person decide in advance where they’re going to stop to eat.
For those that like to wait until they are at the location, and would like to use the phone book, the use of maps is going to be helpful once the person does get the address of the restaurant she or he wants go. Instead of trying to find the address on his or her own, by using a map will make the task much simpler and less stressful.
When people are hungry or tired from your long trip, finding a good restaurant could make the difference in the travel experience. It really is worth the time to find the restaurants in advance, using travel maps will surely be of value in these times.
